Figure Drawing Summer Camp
This camp brings you a unique opportunity to study with an award winning illustrator and anatomy professor from Seneca and Sheridan Animation programs, Werner Zimmermann. In this 3 day workshop you will learn human anatomy, how to capture the 3D form and volume, draw effective gestures that capture movement and convey weight distribution, and use conte to create dynamic line weights. Draw from the skeleton, muscular models and live models. Further insights will be revealed to you via evening workshops with Sheridan and Humber professor Karen Kesteloot and tutorial videos from the Animation Tutor, Garth Laidlaw. Note that students must be a min of 16 years of age to register for this course.

Variation Differences
Just the Day Camp: 3 days of day camp (2 classes per day)
Day Camp + Evening Camp + Meals: Provides access to both the Day and Evening programming as well as lunch at the studio and dinner at the but no accommodations. This option suits families who are travelling with the student. Use this option when the Overnight Camp is sold out.
The Full Deal: Provides access to both the Day and Evening programming, as well as accommodation, meals, and transportation to and from the camp at University of Guelph East Village Townhouses student residence.

Format: IN-PERSON!
Location: Guelph, Ontario. Camp location is 23 Wyndham St N at Catch 23 Studio.
Feedback: Tons of professional feedback throughout duration of camp from all of our instructors.
Materials: Preferred drawing materials, sketchbook, B and 2B Conte crayon, 2 pads of 18” x 24” newsprint.
Duration: 3 days
Skill level/pre-requisites: Beginner to intermediate. Just bring your interest in drawing and telling stories and we will help you develop the skills to bring your stories and characters to life! Designed for ages 16 to 20.
Variations:
1) Full deal - Includes both the 2 day workshops and evening programming, accommodations, meals, and transportation to and from the camp in downtown Guelph.
2) Just the Day Camp - No evening programming or accommodations, just the 2 workshops in the day.
3) Day Camp Plus Evening Camp - Just the evening programming with no accommodations.

This camp is specifically designed to prepare students who plan to apply to animation, illustration or art programs like Sheridan, Seneca, OCADU, Emily Carr, RISD, SVA, Pratt, Parsons and Calarts.
What You’ll Learn
You’ll learn about human anatomy via skeleton and ecorche musculature models, and direct observation of live professional nude models. Gesture drawing, short and medium length poses will be the focus of the workshops while learning various approaches to figure drawing that are appropriate for animation, illustration and fine art portfolios for college applications. You will learn directly from professors from Sheridan and Seneca animation and illustration programs. You will learn how to control line weights with conte crayon to convey form, depth and weight.
