Urban Environment Drawing Camp
Learn how to sketch the urban environment for your art portfolio. This 6 day camp develops perspective drawing skills for students applying to architecture, animation, or illustration programs in college and university under the expert guidance of art profs and grads from Sheridan, Seneca and Humber colleges. Students will learn how to draw accurate perspectives and people in the urban environment from direct observation while picking up skills in drawing natural elements in an appropriate style for their program of choice. Our instructors will share how to convert the observational plein air sketches into stylized layouts for animation or convert them into appealing concept sketches for architecture. Illustration students will learn how to grab the essence of a scene with strong line weight contrast and form suitable for their application portfolios.

Variation Differences
Just the Day Camp: 3 days of day camp (2 classes per day)
Day Camp + Evening Camp + Meals: Provides access to both the Day and Evening programming as well as lunch at the studio and dinner at the but no accommodations. This option suits families who are travelling with the student. Use this option when the Overnight Camp is sold out.
The Full Deal: Provides access to both the Day and Evening programming, as well as accommodation, meals, and transportation to and from the camp at University of Guelph East Village Townhouses student residence.

Format: IN-PERSON!
Location: Guelph, Ontario. Camp locations: 10C Shared Space, 42 Carden St, Catch 23 Studio, 23 Wyndham St N, University of Guelph Campus and East Village Townhouses
Feedback: Tons of professional feedback throughout duration of camp from all of our instructors.
Materials: Preferred drawing materials, sketchbook, fine tip black pens, brush pen and range of graphite pencils,. (specialized equipment will be provided by PortPrep)
Duration: 6 days
Skill level/pre-requisites: Beginner to intermediate. Just bring your interest in drawing! Designed for ages 15 to 20.
Variations:
1) Full deal - Includes both the 2 daytime workshops per day and 1 evening workshop per day, accommodations, meals, and transportation to and from the camp in downtown Guelph.
2) Just the Day Camp - Include the 2 workshops per day but no meals and no evening workshops.
3) Day Camp Plus Evening Camp + Meals - Includes both the 2 daytime workshops per day and 1 evening workshop per day, meals, and transportation to and from the camp in downtown Guelph.

What You’ll Learn:
Perspective theory and the picture plane, eye level, 1, 2 and 3 point perspective, observational perspective drawing and sight measuring, accuracy and methodology, urban and natural environments in perspective, adding people and characters into environments, layout design, stylization of the natural environment, drawing trees and plants, world building, concept sketching, visual communication, composition, hierarchy of contrasts and line weights.
